• Kanfest The Kananaskis Whitewater Festival is a weekend of fun events and competition August 8 - 10, 2014.
  • Polo Fun, friendly, exciting winter pool fun. A way to keep in shape and continue to develop boating skills during the winter.
  • Calpaddle A paddling forum for the Calgary and surrounding areas. Plan, discuss, share information about our rivers.

The Calgary Kayak Club organizes Kayak Polo throughout the Fall and Winter as a way to keep in shape, enjoy some friendly competition and improve upon our paddling skills.  It gives us an opportunity to paddle during when there is not enough daylight or water flowing in the rivers.

We have several different polo opportunities available, including weekly evening sessions, Sunday night Polo development (in partnership with Waterwerks), and our yearly Red Beard Tournament.

Pretty soon there will not be enough water or daylight to paddle in the evenings within a day's drive of Calgary, but there is plenty of both at the SAIT pool!

Directions to SAIT:

Map to the Pool.

Note that the traffic pattern is a bit different now than when this satellite image was taken.

From the North:

  • Start on 16th Ave NW
  • Go SOUTH on 10th St NW
  • Turn in to SAIT Way NW (under the C-train bridge)
  • Go right at the traffic circle to get to the parkade, go straight to get to the outdoor lot.

From the South:

  • Go North on 14th St NW
  • Take the 14th Ave NW cut off (AKA “General Motors Drive, near the top of the hill)
  • Stay to the right and take the ramp to the right onto Fowler Dr NW
  • Immediately after the C-train tracks, turn LEFT onto SAIT Way NW
  • The outdoor lot will be on your right; to get to the parkade continue on SAIT Way and make the equivalent of a left turn at the traffic circle.

It is best to enter SAIT by the entrance across from the parkade (up the steps), and enter through the change rooms.

Take a parking ticket from the machine when you enter the parking lot; you can validate it at the pool if you bring it in with you.  SAIT will only validate parking from the outdoor lot, and not the parkade.
