Down River (DR) Race
This event is a race from Widowmaker to the Canoe Meadows parking lot - You must get out of your boat and carry it up the stairs to finish this race.
Start – Int and Adv boaters in the eddy above Widowmaker
Beginner boaters in the eddy below Widowmaker
Finish – Int and Adv boaters finish at the Canoe Meadows parking lot
Beginners take out above Green Tongue and finish at the top of the stairs
Rules – Play fair, no interfering with others
Boat limit of 9’ (no downriver, slalom, or sea kayaks)
Freestyle Rodeo
Heats of 4 or 5 paddlers show off their stuff in front of judges at select features.
Rules – One minute per paddler in your group
Stick to your order as you cycle through
Each move only scores once per feature
Wait in the eddy above until the judge calls you down.
Waiting paddlers please be rescue boaters for those competing.
Survivor Kananaskis
Be the last one standing! Swimmers position themselves above green tongue to be the last one standing when the water turns on at Barrier Dam.
Rules – PFD, helmet, and booties mandatory
All other clothing optional, drysuits will be ridiculed!
Ball Race
First team with all 3 team members, their boats, and inflated ball in the Canoe Meadows parking lot wins. The race starts in the Widowmaker eddy and takes out below the race course. Strategy – protect your ball from others while at the same time trying to sabotage other teams. It’s good fun chaos.
Rules – Team of 3
Be nice to beginners (wearing a red/blue/or yellow pinny) and don’t push them over
No carrying the ball
No popping balls (teams caught popping balls will be disqualified)
Help out swimmers
No pulling decks
Surf Off
Entertain the crowd with your playboating moves. Crowd pleasing big moves are what you need to advance to the next round and win. Showboating encouraged.

4 boaters jostle to be the first to the bottom of the course.
